Heat exchangers are widely used, but do you know what are the characteristics of gas flow in heat exchangers?
The way the gas flows in the heat exchanger is different, and its thermal characteristics are also different. With the same temperature of the exhaust gas entering the heat exchanger, the counter-flow can preheat the air to a higher temperature than the co-flow. When other conditions are the same, the heat transfer of countercurrent is larger than that of cocurrent, and the structure is more compact than that of cocurrent heat exchanger. From the working conditions of the heat exchanger wall, the downstream flow is more favorable. Because the temperature of the heat exchanger wall is almost equal to both ends of the co-flow heat exchanger, the maximum temperature is lower than that of the counter-flow heat exchanger, the heat exchanger is not easily deformed and damaged, and the material requirements are not high. On a counter-flow heat exchanger, the wall temperature at the high temperature end is close to the exhaust gas inlet temperature, and the temperature difference between the two ends is large. This puts forward higher requirements on the material of the wall, and at the same time, due to the large temperature difference between the two ends, it is easy to deform and damage. In practical applications, most of the heat exchangers adopt the countercurrent method.
