So what are the factors that can affect the heat exchange effect of the gasketed plate heat exchanger?

1. Spacing of spacers
High-quality finned heat exchangers have multiple gaskets, each with a fixed spacing, and the width of the spacing will affect the heat exchange effect of the gasketed plate heat exchanger, especially for those affected by eddy currents. For the type of heat exchanger affected, the performance of heat exchange increases as the spacer spacing decreases. However, when the air velocity is higher and the number of tube rows is larger, the effect of gasket spacing on the heat transfer coefficient is negligible.
2. Number of tube rows
For flat-plate gasketed heat exchangers, when the number of tube rows is large, the gasket spacing is relatively small, and the Reynolds number is low, the number of tube rows will have a greater impact on the heat transfer characteristics. This is due to the influence of the boundary layer, and the heat transfer factor will decrease with the increase of the number of tube rows. For the corrugated gasketed heat exchanger, the heat transfer coefficient increases with the number of tube rows when the Reynolds number is high.
3. Pipe diameter
If a plate type gasketed plate heat exchanger is used, the larger the diameter of the heat exchange tube, the larger the invalid area behind the tube, so the size of the tube diameter will directly affect the heat exchange effect and the diameter of the heat exchange tube. The smaller the heat transfer effect, the better. In addition, for other types of gasketed plate heat exchangers, if a small tube diameter is used, the heat transfer coefficient outside the tube can also be increased, and the pressure drop loss can be reduced.
