What are the characteristics of plate heat exchanger evaporator

In general, condensation and boiling can be completed in one process, so the phase change side is often arranged as a single process, and the liquid side can be arranged as a single process or multiple processes as required. In the field of HVAC refrigeration, the water side is generally a single process process.
Plate condensers and evaporators are also designed with allowable pressure drops. A large pressure drop in the condenser will reduce the condensation temperature of the steam, resulting in a small logarithmic average temperature difference. Excessive pressure drop in the evaporator will increase the superheat of the outlet steam, both of which will increase the area of the heat exchanger, which is not conducive to heat exchange. Therefore, when choosing a plate evaporator, the plate type with less resistance should be selected as much as possible. The number of unit plates should not be too many, and the liquid should be distributed as evenly as possible. The plate condenser should adopt the method of liquid separation on both sides.
For plate condensers, the design generally does not allow the coexistence of the condensing section and the subcooling section, because the efficiency of the heat transfer and subcooling section is low. If subcooling is required, a separate subcooler should be set up in principle.
When selecting the type, the structure type of plate condenser and plate evaporator should be preferred. If there is no suitable model, the commonly used plate heat exchanger should be selected. Plate heat exchangers used in refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment should be brazed plate heat exchangers due to high refrigerant pressure and strong leakage capacity.
